In “Zatoichi and the Doomed Man (1965),” the blind swordsman Zatoichi finds himself behind bars, where a fellow prisoner begs him for help to prove his innocence of a crime that carries the death penalty. Though initially hesitant due to the trouble he’s faced in the past when getting involved, circumstances inevitably draw him into the situation.
