At a ceremony honoring Japanese soldiers who served in the US Army during World War II, Mr. Miyagi encounters the widow of his former commanding officer. He becomes acquainted with her granddaughter, Julie, a troubled teen grappling with the loss of her parents in a tragic accident. Julie struggles with her emotions, facing challenges both at home with her grandmother and at school.
