Vernon Brownmule, known as “Burnin’ Vernon,” was once a notorious, faded musician with a single hit before being ousted from the country music scene. Two decades later, he resurfaces as the second-best Elvis impersonator around. After an alcohol-fueled incident lands him in jail for crashing into a church sign, he is sentenced to community service as the church’s handyman. As he navigates this new role, he masquerades as the church’s minister and rekindles a connection with a past fling, discovering he has a 15-year-old daughter he never knew about.
