Set during the final days of World War II, Nomura, played by Masatoshi Nagase, is a writer drowning in despair. In a bar, he meets a woman who used to be a prostitute after her father sold her to a brothel due to the family’s crushing poverty. Together, they decide to live as husband and wife until the war concludes. Although the woman cannot feel sexual pleasures because of her past, the writer is consumed by a physical desire for her. Meanwhile, Ohira, portrayed by Jun Murakami, has returned from fighting in China, where he engaged in horrific acts against civilians.
