Five-year-old Sosuke, the son of a sailor, enjoys a serene life on a cliff by the ocean with his mother, Lisa. One day, he discovers an enchanted goldfish trapped in a bottle on the beach, and after freeing her, he names her Ponyo. However, Ponyo is no ordinary fish; she is the child of a powerful wizard and a sea goddess. Utilizing her father’s magic, Ponyo transforms into a young girl and quickly develops feelings for Sosuke.
