David, a comedy writer grappling with a recent breakup, relocates from New York City to Sacramento to support his ailing mother. He hadn’t stayed with his conservative father and much-younger sisters in a decade, making him feel out of place in his childhood residence. With his mother’s health deteriorating, David desperately seeks to find purpose in this troubling situation while trying to assure everyone, and himself, that he’s handling it well.
