Overview
In the midst of a harsh winter in Montréal, an elementary school is left shaken when a teacher tragically takes her own life. The void is filled by Bachir Lazhar, a vibrant Algerian immigrant, who steps in as the new teacher to guide the emotionally scarred students. As he helps the children navigate their grief, he quietly hides his ongoing journey of seeking asylum in Québec, all while grappling with his own devastating personal loss.
