Matt, a self-centered young lawyer, journeys to the rustic retreat of his grandfather, an unusual recluse living in the wilderness without modern conveniences such as gas, electricity, or a phone, to persuade him not to give away his inheritance as is his intention. Ironically, it’s Matt who ends up contemplating important life changes. The film stars Jason London alongside Ed Asner. In a twist of fate, Matt’s mother needs someone to care for her aging father, but her carefree son Matt, who’s struggling with his career aspirations, romantic relationships, and finances, isn’t the first person she’d choose. Yet necessity compels Matt to venture deep into his grandfather’s remote abode. Initially struggling to adapt to this minimalist lifestyle, Matt eventually encounters a single mother who teaches him to appreciate the beauty of a simpler existence.
