When Emery was just six, an alien spacecraft crash-landed in her quaint hometown. Despite whether their intentions were peaceful or hostile, chaos ensued as humans clashed with the newly arrived alien species known as the Atrians. Amid the turmoil, a young Atrian boy named Roman found refuge in a shed behind Emery’s house, where she offered him protection, food, comfort, and the beginnings of a friendship. A decade later, the Atrians have become somewhat accustomed to life on Earth, though they remain confined to a heavily-secured area called the Sector to ensure separation from humans. For the first time, a group of Atrian teenagers is set to attend a suburban human high school, as a test for potential human-alien coexistence. Emery and Roman reconnect in this environment, surrounded by a community filled with distrust toward the Atrians.
