This adaptation of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s beloved Broadway musical “The Sound of Music” features country music star Carrie Underwood in the role of Maria von Trapp. The show was performed and broadcast live from Grumman Studios in Bethpage, New York, and was produced by Craig Zadan and Neil Meron. Their vision was to introduce a new form of live entertainment on TV if the telecast proved successful.
