Bronx Obama

In the documentary “Bronx Obama” (2014), we follow the journey of Louis Ortiz, a middle-aged Puerto Rican from the Bronx who discovers his uncanny resemblance to Barack Obama. Envisioning a chance to achieve the American Dream, Ortiz transforms himself completely, adopting the suit, gestures, and voice of the President to become a professional impersonator. Supported by a casting agent, he joins a troupe of political lookalikes, including stand-ins for Bill Clinton and Mitt Romney, traveling to perform mock debates primarily at Republican events leading up to the 2012 election. These experiences force Ortiz to grapple with the disparity between his own political beliefs and his role as a performer.
